Another roller-coaster year in soap has whooshed by with some sensational storylines sparking speculation, suspicion and surprise.

In Coronation Street, David Platt fought to find peace having been raped by Josh.

Sally was framed and jailed while her sister Gina tried to steal Tim. Jealous Jenny lost it over Johnny and Liz’s bond. Sinead and Daniel’s baby arrived early. And Rana was killed as the factory roof collapsed.

Emmerdale’s serial killer Lachlan got his comeuppance. Chas and Paddy grieved as their newborn died. Moira was reunited with daughter Hannah, now known as Matty, and Charity met Ryan, a son she thought was dead. Teen Jacob was groomed by teacher Maya.

On EastEnders, Kat learnt Alfie fathered Hayley’s baby. Sharon started an affair with younger man Keanu. Mel’s wedding day revenge on bigamist Ray ended in murder.

And Linda’s mission to free framed Mick saw her pretend to fall for enemy Stuart.

Craziness continued in Hollyoaks as Breda bumped off five dodgy dads while Sienna returned from the ‘dead’ before killing daughter Nico. In ‘stunt week’, a storm wreaked havoc. Abuser Buster stood trial, and among the weddings was the McQueen double.

Doctors saw stalwart Heston die in a car crash. Daniel split with Zara, who slept with Sid. It was farewell for Mrs Tembe, who left to become a vicar, leaving newcomer Becky to fill her shoes.

A shortlist of nominees in each category will be announced on Tuesday 30 April 2019 in What’s On TV magazine when you will be given another chance to vote for the nominees. The Best British Soap category, however, will not be shortlisted so you can vote for your favourite throughout the voting period.
